Hey guys!
So we finally got on the road in the eastern direction, where the Coromandel penninsula is located. And now a little bit of geography. This region was famous for gold & kaolin mining, so that’s why we stopped by one of old mines and took a tour. The tour included a ride in an small old mining train called Driving Creek Railway, where we were scared of falling down the slopes. This region i salso known for the huge kauri trees, which were more than 500 years old. When entering the rain forest, we had to clean all of our gear, including clothes and shoes to protect the trees against diseases. The whole penninsula is actually one big rainforest, I still can’t belive how palm trees and pinetrees can grow right next to each other!
The next morning we woke up really early to see the sunrise above the Cathedral Cove. That’s a cave right on the coast and I have to say, the three hours of sleep were totally worth it!
Well and tomorrow we are heading Rotorua! Stay tuned!
