Hey!
We spent the whole day in Lisbon today and even though we didn’t have any specific plans here, we saw a lot of stuff!
Somehow, we managed to be here at 7 in the morning, looking for some local delicious breakfast. But we didn’t think of that Portugal is not like the Czech Republic and the first place to eat opens at 10, so we involuntarily headed to the first place of interest, which was the huge red bridge at the entrance to the city. It remarkably looks like the San Francsico’s Golden Gate Bridge, so we thought back about our trip to the States last year. Right next to the bridge, there is the Christ the King statue, that looks exactly like the one in Rio de Janeiro.
So we killed some time there and exactly at 10 we were sitting in one of the cafés starving to death. We ordered some coffee, their typical Pastéis de Nata and some other goodies.
Considering that the center of Lisbon is very small, we started to explore it by foot. During walking, we found on the internet, that everyone has to see their famous yellow cable car, which we finally saw on our was to the castle. Actually Lisbon doesn’t have many sightseeings and it’s beauty consists of hanging our in small magical streets and sitting around in cafés and restaurants.
In the afternoon, we got on the road again and since we didn’t find any interesting place to stay in Lisbon, we decided to sleep about an hour away southwards from Lisbon, on the Tróia peninsula. We found the most perfect hotel, so I decided to write another post about it. Stay tuned!
Love,
E.
