Wild camping at Julier Pass

Hello everyone!

Julier Pass (2284 m.a.s.l.). Another epic place in the Swiss Alps, which is worth not only seeing, but also camping at. Julier is definitely not just another mountain pass. It’s got exceptional architecture. Julier Tower, built by Giovanni Netzer, is a wooden tower that serves primarily for festival, concert and theater purposes. Unfortunately, you can’t get in outside of these festivals, concerts or performances. We didn’t know this since there’s not much information about these towers on the internet. We were so lucky that we happened to hit one of the performances, so I had a chance to slip in unnoticed and take a picture of the interior.

The Julier Pass towers will only be available to see until 2020, so hurry up!

As far as camping goes, our spot was just below the pass towards St. Moritz. You will see a brand new wooden bridge on the left side of the road. Along the river you can scratch up the slope and after about 10 minutes of walking you will find an ultra-flat spot with an incredible view. The road is not visible from there, that means the chance of being seen is pretty low 🙂 Morning shower in the mountain stream is not bad either.

Enjoy!

E.
