Snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef

Hey!

One of the biggest must-do’s in Australia, is snorkelling at the Great Barrier Reef, which we did as well. Unfortunately the celebration of the New Chinese Year took place by that time and lots of Chinese decided to celebrate right at the Reef, so even I had to celebrate kind of involuntarily the New Chinese Year, for the first time in my life.

So we got on the boat early in the morning and after hour and a half we were already anchored in the open ocean. We could do soo many activities there, but since we couldn’t wait to be snorkelling, we didn’t even bother to explore the rest of the program. We got the equipment and dived into the water, full of corals, thousands of colourful fish, sea turtles, small sharks (I almost drowned because of fear), anemones and other sea plants. It was absolutely amazing; I’ve never seen such a beauty in my life!

After hour and a half, we ran out of energy, so we came back on board to grab some lunch. We had lots of seafood and several kilograms of fresh tropical fruit. After lunch, we jumped into the water again and explored the rest of the reef. We came back in the late afternoon, and spent the evening sorting all the photos and experiences!:)

Tomorrow we are heading further south along the coast.
Love,

E.
