Hey guys!
Here’s another part of my report from Dubai, this time it’s all about my Christmas Eve! Sharp readers can notice, that this post doesn’t have anything in common with Christmas (and other articles either), but that was the purpose. My Facebook feed is full of pictures of Christmas trees and presents, that my friends got for Christmas. As usually, I have to be different, and that’s exactly the reason why I don’t even have a picture like that and I didn’t celebrate Christmas at all.:)))
So, instead of freaking out and buying the last presents in the morning, I was freaking out about buying a ticket to Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, for the late afternoon, because all of them were sold out of course. Finally I managed to get the tickets through our hotel, which had a few tickets in reserve for the hotel guests.
After breakfast, we headed to the Old Town, which was pretty small in comparison to the “new” one. However, it still took us a few hours to explore it. We were absolutely fascinated by the turquoise little lakes, right in between the skyscrapers. We even checked out the Dubai Mall, but it was soooo huge & stressing, that we left immediately (Yes, even me, who loves shopping, haha!). There is also a enormous aquarium right inside of the mall, stretching up to the third floor, where they had sharks and other ocean creatures. At 3pm we headed to the entrance of Burj Khalifa.
And my impressions about Burj Khalifa? Well, the ticket was super-expensive, there is like permanent smog above Dubai, so you can’t really see anything from the top, it takes more than an hour to get from the first queue to the actual top, you can’t get a good picture due to hundreds of Asians and dirty windows, making these reflections and I think all the cities look the same from above. On the other hand, I can say that I’ve been to the tallest building in the world.
In the evening, we came back to the hotel for dinner and then spent the rest of the night in the hotel bar, which is located on the 42nd floor, so the views were incredible. We didn’t even realize, that it was Christmas eve, we were just enjoying the great mood:).
To be continued…! 🙂 The next day we headed to the iconic Burj-Al-Arab and there will be a loooot of pictures of a stunning sunset, so stay tuned!
Have a great rest of Friday, guys!
